The breakfast in the morning was small but surprisingly nice

The staff were rude on arrival and at breakfast and when we were booking out. The room was much smaller than advertised and the bathroom had a puddle of brown sludge on the floor! The shower didnt work and was freezing cold. I booked two double rooms and a single room to be told on the day that they had messed up and we only had one double room and one single room meaning one of our parties had to camp outside in the pouring rain. The single room had only enough space for the bed and was so tiny it resembled a cupboard an had no windows so was dark and dreary. There was one small window in the ceiling which was covered in bird poo. I feel the hotel is completely over priced.

    Friendly staff/greeting, good breakfast.

TV did not work properly - no sound/channels did not change. There was a socket haging off the wall in my room. Would like to see an updated room for the money we paid. This could be a good place to stay if upgraded.

the breakfast. Wi Fi available. bed comfortable

basic room. dull decor. old heater. no chair.gap around the window meant it was cold. most of all room situated above bar/restaurant and very noisy. kept awake by DJ playing music. until 1am then guests making a noise coming to bed. Also strange clanging noises throughout the night. staff could have told me there was a party on and put me in a room as far away from the bar as possible

  • Older travelers

    Room clean. Breakfast good

Noisy downstairs and could be heard in room.Having to request TV remote. No instructions on how to use telephone to contact reception.

  • Family with children

Stayed with my wife and yound son, the evening meal was very good and there was a varied menu which was good value

Rooms above the bar could result in noise distrubing those who enjoy an early night!

  • Group of friends

    The price of the drinks

Very unfriendly staff. We came down for breakfast at 9.20 to be told that finished at 9.15. I know this sort of information if available in the bumph in the room but it is usual to be told when you are booking in. Other guests who came down at 9.05 were also met with a frosty welcome. Would never stay there again and most definitely would not recommend it to anyone. The Manager did reduce our stay by £5.00 to compensate for breakfast.

  • Group of friends

    The breakfast.

Location was advertised on Boooking.com as Newport. It was over 20 miles from Newport and Cardiff. Remote location. Had to order taxi to Cardiff and back which cost £60. Rooms were small and shabby. Double bed was very small.

  • Older travelers

The hotel had a bar which did not have the usual over inflated prices

No shower, but we did not request one

  • Single

Good value and fine for a 1-night business trip. Nice bar downstairs without any ales but a decent pint of Brains. Decent breakfast in the morning included in the price.

Very small 'double' room even though I was on my own, and lacked attention to small (but easy to fix details) such as position of plug points and bulbs not working etc.

  • Group of friends

Very laid back no pressure to do anything, staff. Locals really freindly If you are looking to relax this is certainly a good place.

Seemed to be short of staff most of the time. Reception staff which was mainly one also doing bar and other duties which caused some delays.

  • Family with children

Staff made you feel very relaxed and very helpfull. The breakfast was good value locals were very friendly

  • Group of friends

The breakfast waitress needs to attend a customer care course. No receptionist for late night arrivals, had to collect my own key from behind the counter. The hotel in need of rerurbishment.

  • Older travelers

Location was good, food was good, views from the outside terrace were wonderful. Staff were friendly and jovial. A goos nights stay. Breakfast good.

There was no "personal" touch. The room seemed a little "tired". Nothing serious, but the cyurtain track fell down when we pulled the curtains. The shower needed some tiles regrouting. There was no hair dryer in the room (which all other rooms at a comparable porice provide)

  • Group of friends

Freindly staff, clean rooms great value for money highly recommended

  • Older travelers

friendly relaxed atmosphere with great staff.

room 8 too small for a double. Dogs not allowed so won't be able to use it as much as i would like.
